PM Shmyhal unveils step-by-step quarantine exit plan

Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal unveiled the quarantine exit plan on the air of the program Podrobytsi (Details) on the Inter TV channel on Friday, April 24, the Government portal informs.

“The Head of Government noted that, based on figures and calculations of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the Cabinet of Ministers has reason to say that a growing trend in the number of patients, which is considered to be the next peak, is expected between May 3 and May 8,” the statement reads.

"Starting May 11, I hope we will embark on the first stage of relaxing quarantine restrictions by allowing to visit parks and public gardens. We will permit wholesale and retail non-food stores operating,” said the Head of Government.

According to him, the next stage of easing the lockdown is the stage when the infection rate tends towards a decrease and the number of patients in the medical institutions drops.

“The third, fourth and fifth stages are actually the end of the quarantine. In addition, there are so-called red, orange, yellow, green levels - this is when we can manage to apply reasonable measures in areas where outbreaks occur. These are separate territories, cities, regions, districts”, explained Denys Shmyhal.

Moreover, he told that the Government had come to an understanding of the process of launching the public transport operation and the restrictions that would remain in place within Ukraine.

"This is the so-called "economy of inviolability": social distancing, personal protective equipment and, accordingly, those restrictions which we are obeying today and will be forced to obey this year for sure, perhaps the next year," the Prime Minister said.

According to him, this model of behavior should be accepted and preserved by the society in the future.
