Ukraine launches clinical trials of a domestic drug, which, according to the preliminary findings of Ukrainian scientists and manufacturers, can significantly reduce or completely neutralize the risk of death from complications caused by the coronavirus disease.

In addition, the possibility of comprehensive use of this drug for the treatment of coronavirus and for the prevention of the disease is being studied.

President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed hope that clinical trials will officially confirm the effectiveness of the drug and that in the future it will help save the lives of thousands of Ukrainian citizens, the press service of the head of state reported.

"I believe in Ukrainian scientists, and today we keep our fingers crossed for them all over the country," the president said.

More details will be provided later.

As of 09:00 on April 22, Ukraine reported 6,592 laboratory-confirmed Covid-19 cases, including 174 deaths and 424 recoveries.
