Ukraine confirms 5,710 coronavirus cases, including 261 over past day

Ukraine has reported 261 new cases of the coronavirus (COVID-19) over the past day, bringing the total number to 5,710, according to the Public Health Centre.

“In Ukraine, 58,093 samples were tested for novel coronavirus infection by PCR method. On April 19, 261 reports on new confirmed cases were received," the Public Health Centre posted on Facebook.

Some 3,800 patients, including 283 children, undergo outpatient treatment. Some 1,910 people have been hospitalized, including 91 children.

Some 151 people died from complications related to the disease, including 80 men and 71 women. Among those deceased were mostly people over the age of 50 (86%).

At the same time, 359 people in Ukraine, including 17 children, have already recovered as a repeated laboratory test detected no virus.

In particular, coronavirus cases in Ukraine were confirmed in:

Vinnytsia region – 330 cases (18 recoveries);

Volyn region – 158 cases (13 recoveries);

Dnipropetrovsk region – 118 cases (9 recoveries);

Donetsk region – 16 cases (6 recoveries);

Zhytomyr region – 226 cases (1 recovery);

Zakarpattia region – 196 cases (16 recoveries);

Zaporizhzhia region – 134 cases (17 recoveries);

Ivano-Frankivsk region – 512 cases (27 recoveries);

Kyiv city – 850 cases (33 recoveries);

Kyiv region – 333 cases (26 recoveries);

Kirovohrad region – 246 cases (17 recoveries);

Lviv region – 253 cases (22 recoveries);

Luhansk region – 24 cases (3 recoveries);

Mykolaiv region – 37 cases;

Odesa region – 137 cases;

Poltava region – 63 cases (10 recoveries);

Rivne region – 312 cases (21 recoveries);

Sumy region – 83 cases (10 recoveries);

Ternopil region – 414 cases (34 recoveries);

Kharkiv region – 73 cases (2 recoveries);

Kherson region – 63 cases (7 recoveries);

Khmelnytskyi region – 49 cases (5 recoveries);

Chernivtsi region – 906 cases (31 recoveries);

Cherkasy region – 165 cases (28 recoveries);

Chernihiv region – 12 cases (3 recoveries).

Coronavirus cases in Ukraine registered their smallest increase in the last four days.

At the same time, experts predict that five to ten days after the Easter holidays in Ukraine, a new coronavirus outbreak may occur.
