Cemeteries in Kyiv region closed until end of quarantine

Cemeteries in Kyiv region have been closed to visits until the end of the quarantine period, Acting Head of Kyiv Regional State Administration Vasyl Volodin has said.

"The decision has been made to close the cemeteries to visits on the territory of cities, towns and villages of Kyiv region, except for burial services that have to be conducted in accordance with the rules established for the quarantine period," he said during an online briefing on Friday.

He noted that the decision had immediately come into force and would remain in place until the epidemiological situation improves.

Cemeteries in Kyiv will also be closed from April 18. Memorial days have been postponed until June 6.

Ukraine reported 4,662 laboratory confirmed COVID-19 cases as of 09:00 on April 17. A total of 125 people died of the disease, and 246 patients recovered. A total of 501 new cases have been recorded in Ukraine over the past 24 hours.
