Reznikov: Real coronavirus statistics hidden in occupied Donbas and Crimea
"The occupying power hides a real picture from the outside world and from citizens living in these territories. They operate according to the old Soviet method: when Chornobyl disaster occurred, they also hid information from the population and thus many people suffered as a result of exposure to radiation," Vice Prime Minister – Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov said in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.
Reznikov stated that nobody was tested for coronavirus in the occupied territories.
"According to various sources, including the indifferent citizens living there, we know that even if there is a [coronavirus] case or death, they call it ‘A (H1N1)’, i.e. swine flu, but with a fatal outcome," the official said.
He also informed that the border between the occupied areas of Donetsk region and the occupied areas of Luhansk region had been closed. Reznikov noted that there was also information that the de facto border with Russia was closed also.
"In fact, crossing is restricted. It’s not true that everything is open and it is Ukraine that restricts the freedom [of movement]. No, they take the same restrictive measures, but started to do that a little bit later," the Vice Prime Minister added.
Reznikov stressed that Ukraine would try to help its citizens in the occupied territories, including by offering humanitarian convoys and seeking assistance from the International Committee of the Red Cross and UN humanitarian missions.
