Kyiv city will not be closed for entry and exit, first deputy chairman of the Kyiv City State Administration Mykola Povoroznyk said at a briefing.

"Restrictions on the movement of people between the city of Kyiv and other localities of Ukraine, as well as on the movement in public places without extreme need, are only advisory so far. Given that most entertainment and commercial establishments will be closed, this will limit the flow of people. We strongly recommend that you leave the house only to go to work, shop, pharmacy, hospital. Minimize your social communication, including with your relatives, to prevent the spread of the infection," Povoroznyk said, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

He noted that the decision to close the city for entry or exit had not been taken yet.

"To date, no one has made such decisions regarding the closure of the city for entry or exit, and no such decisions are planned to be made today," Povoroznyk said.

He also said that it was not planned to restrict the use of public transport, including the subway.

According to him, the restrictive measures in the capital will be introduced from March 17 and will last until April 3.

Today in the morning, Kyiv city mayor Vitali Klitschko announced that all shopping malls and shops except groceries, household shops, pharmacies, gas stations, banks and ATMs would be closed in Kyiv to prevent a possible spread of coronavirus.
