Ukraine’s Cabinet endorses closure of some border crossing points
The decision was adopted at the Cabinet’s meeting, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
At the same time, the number of checkpoints that will be closed has not been finalized yet and will be discussed, including at the meeting of the National Defense and Security Council of Ukraine.
According to Interior Minister Arsen Avakov, the citizens of Ukraine, who have left the country for a short period to visit other countries and have to return soon, will be allowed to enter Ukraine.
“We have 43,000 citizens of Ukraine who left for the short term and have to return. We see them and we think everyone has the right to come back, and we are waiting for them,” he said.
Avakov recalled that "we were preparing 49 border crossing points [which would continue to operate]."
"However, taking into account the current situation, I think this proposal will be tougher and the final decision will be made at the NSDC meeting," the minister said.
