Kyiv authorities have ordered 100,000 coronavirus test kits, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko has said.

He said this live on Radio NV, the press service of the city authorities reported.

"If the number of patients in the capital is great, we have already ordered 100,000 rapid tests that will soon be in Kyiv so that we were prepared and able to perform diagnostics promptly if need be," Klitschko said.

He noted that no case of coronavirus had been reported in Kyiv so far.

Klitschko said Kyiv was taking all possible precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 virus.

In particular, a plan of anti-epidemic measures and restrictions was introduced in the city from March 12 and will be in force until the end of March.

Special attention is also paid to safety in public transport. All rolling stock of the city's public transport, including the subway, is disinfected twice a day - before being sent to the routes and at the end of the shift.

Klitschko also asked the Infrastructure Ministry and Boryspil Airport's management to cancel flights to countries where the coronavirus epidemic is spreading.

Three cases of coronavirus have been reported in Ukraine so far: two in Chernivtsi region and one in Zhytomyr region.

According to the COVID-19 Interactive Map-19 of the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University, 135,318 people were infected with coronavirus worldwide as of March 13. Some 4,981 people died and 69,645 recovered.
