Ukrainian startup gets $100,000 grant at exhibition in Dubai
The BIOsens development is a mobile device for the rapid diagnostics of the presence in agricultural products of myrotoxins (substances produced by mold fungi). Its sensors are capable of detecting early-stage infections in corn, wheat, peanuts, fodder, etc.
The test sample should be filled in the cartridge, inserted into BIOsens, and the result will appear in the mobile application. The analysis takes 25 minutes and costs less than laboratory tests, according to project founder Andrii Karpiuk.
Last year, BIOsens also won the EBRD-EU Climate Innovation Vouchers Program, which is being implemented in Ukraine by Greencubator. The company spent the grant on the refinement of the prototype, testing, and certification of its own device.
In total, more than 6,900 companies applied for the Expo Live Innovation Impact Grant program at Expo 2020. The organizers selected 120 winners from 65 countries, and they will receive grants.
