Ukraine is interested in Japan's continued consideration of visa waiver for Ukrainians, especially in the run-up to the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.

“We highly appreciate Japan's decision on liberalization of visa regime for Ukrainian citizens since January 1, 2018. We will be grateful for the continued consideration of visa waiver for Ukrainians, especially in the run-up to the 2020 Summer Olympics,” President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky posted on Twitter.

As reported, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in Japan on Monday on a working visit. In particular, Zelensky will take part in the ceremony of the enthronement of the Japanese emperor.

From January 1, 2018, Japan simplified visa requirements for short-term stay of Ukrainian citizens. In particular, the range of applicants eligible for multiple-entry visas for short-term visits has been expanded.

Visa validity period was increased to five years. In addition to the existing single-entry visas, multiple-entry visas (with a validity of three years and a maximum stay of 30 days) were introduced for short-term stays for various purposes, including tourism.
