Almost 33,000 first-graders to go to Kyiv schools this year – city administration

Almost 33,000 first-graders will go to Kyiv primary schools on September 2, 2019.

Deputy Head of the Kyiv City State Administration Valentyn Mondryivskyi stated this at a press briefing on Wednesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"The city is fully ready for the new school year and all our educational institutions are properly prepared," he stated.

According to him, all 430 municipal comprehensive schools will welcome first-graders on September 2. According to preliminary data, this year 1,140 first classes have been formed at Kyiv schools.

Mondryivskyi also added that UAH 2.6 billion had been allocated from the city budget for preparations for the 2019/2020 school year.
