The United States of America is committed to continuing to support Ukrainian volunteers and veterans through the specialized ministry and it is up to Ukrainians to determine the format of its activities.

"The United States of America is committed to supporting Ukraine. We will be able to continue to support volunteers and veterans in civilian life with the help of the Ministry for Veterans Affairs... The task of Ukraine and the Ukrainians today is to determine the format of the Ministry's activities," U.S. Chargé d'Affaires a.i. in Ukraine William Taylor said at the opening ceremony of the 2nd International Veteran and Volunteer Forum, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

He expressed hope that the Ministry for Veterans Affairs would work within the framework of the agreements reached earlier and that its main purpose would be to improve the lives of veterans with the involvement of the public sector representatives so that those arrangements were implemented.

"The US understands that the veterans are going through a transition period after returning from the war to the new realities of civilian life. We want them to get the education and medical care they deserve. We need to evaluate if the veterans can further work effectively for the benefit of society. From the US side, we would like to meet the veterans' needs to acquire new skills they need to live on," the diplomat said.

Taylor also highlighted the problem of building trust between veterans, civil society and the state, and assured that the United States would continue to provide support to the volunteer and veteran movement in Ukraine.
