June 2019 in Kyiv becomes the warmest on record

June 2019 in Kyiv became the warmest in 139 years of modern record-keeping, according to the Central Geophysical Observatory named after Borys Sreznevskyi.

"The average monthly air temperature in June in Kyiv was +23.6 °C, which is 5.4 °C higher the climate normal. This year's June was the warmest in Kyiv since 1881," reads the report posted on the Central Geophysical Observatory’s website.

It is noted that there were 14 days in June when air temperature exceeded + 30 °С in the capital. In general, 11 temperature records were set in Kyiv in June. Over the first six months of the year, air temperature deviation from the climate normal made up 3.2 °С.

"At the same time, the last day of the month, June 30, was the coldest day, when the minimum air temperature in the morning dropped to + 13.5 °C. The hottest day in the capital was June 22, when the maximum air temperature after midday rose to + 34.0 °C," reads the report.
