New temperature records were set in the city of Kyiv during the longest days of this year, June 22-23, according to the Central Geophysical Observatory named after Borys Sreznevskyi.

“According to observations of the Central Geophysical Observatory named after Borys Sreznevskyi, after midday on June 22, 2019, the maximum temperature was +34.0 °C, which is 0.6 °C above the previous air temperature maximum recorded in 1891,” reads the report.

In addition, an average daily air temperature on Saturday, June 22, for the first time in the past 139 years reached +27.3 °С, which is 0.7 °С above the previous temperature record set for that day in 1943.

At the same time, on June 23, the minimum air temperature of the warmest night recorded in the past 139 years did not drop below + 22.3 °С, which is 1.4 °С higher than in 1946.

"Since the beginning of June, eleven temperature records have been recorded,” the Central Geophysical Observatory summarized.
