Over 30,000 law enforcers to maintain public order on May 9

More than 30,000 law enforcers, including over 16,000 National Police officers and 2,000 National Guard soldiers, will ensure order during the events scheduled for May 9.

Zorian Shkiriak, an advisor to the interior minister, stated this at a briefing on May 8, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

"On May 9, more than 1,200 events are planned across Ukraine. To provide public order by the Interior Ministry’s units, 16,600 police officers, 2,300 National Guard soldiers, 7,000 rescuers, 2,000 units of special equipment will be involved. Also, 6,000 border guards will work in enhanced security regime. As expected, more than 600,000 participants will take part in mass events,” said Shkiriak.

The interior minister’s advisor has noted that reinforced security measures will operate until the end of all mass events on May 9.
