Danish airport changes 'Kiev' to 'Kyiv'
This is stated in a letter from the airport director to Ukraine's Ambassador to Denmark Mykhailo Vydoinyk, according to the Facebook page of the Ukrainian Embassy in Denmark.
"Being an international airport it is our general policy to use the English versions of city names. On our departure boards for instance it says "Copenhagen" instead of "København." It was a simple mistake that we didn't use the English "Kyiv," when first addressing the new route to your capital city. This has now been corrected," reads the airport's response to the Ukrainian ambassador.
It was previously reported that Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv had corrected "Kiev" to "Kyiv."
On October 2, 2018, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, together with the StratCom Ukraine Center for Strategic Communications, launched an online campaign #CorrectUA during which it will ask foreign media outlets to spell the Ukrainian capital correctly (#KyivNotKiev).
