Russian ombudsperson Tatyana Moskalkova argues against the exchange of editor-in-chief of RIA Novosti - Ukraine Kirill Vyshinsky.

"The purpose of my visit is [to check] the observance of the rights of Kirill Vyshinsky. It is very important not to consider Kirill as a subject of the exchange of someone for someone," Moskalkova said in a commentary to an Ukrinform correspondent in Kyiv.

Today, March 20, the Cassation Criminal Court as part of the Supreme Court of Ukraine has started to consider a cassation appeal of editor-in-chief of RIA Novosti - Ukraine Kirill Vyshinsky against a court ruling on the selection of a pre-trial restriction in form of detention.

Russian ombudsperson Moskalkova has arrived in Kyiv today.

In addition, Vyshinsky claims he did not write an appeal to Russian President Vladimir Putin asking to exchange him for one of the Ukrainian political prisoners. According to Vyshinsky, the issue of exchange is not important to him.

Kirill Vyshinsky was detained in Kyiv on May 15, 2018. Then, the evidence was obtained as a result of the investigative activities that the information posted on the RIA Novosti - Ukraine online media outlet contained appeals aimed at undermining the sovereignty, territorial integrity and integrity of Ukraine, state and information security.

Vyshinsky was arrested on suspicion of high treason without the right to post bail.

He faces up to 15 years in prison if he is found guilty. Vyshinsky denies all accusations.
