On March 15, Uzhhorod International Airport resumed its work after a three-year break.

President Petro Poroshenko said this at a meeting of the Regional Development Council of Zakarpattia region, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

“I want to congratulate all of you - today the renewed regular flight Kyiv-Uzhhorod landed at Uzhhorod Airport. The airport resumed its work. Now the task is to perform flights on a more frequent basis,” the president said.

He emphasized that a trip to Kyiv for residents of Zakarpattia region should take an hour and not 13-14 hours.

"We should bring tourists to Zakarpattia region by airplanes and trains in order to increase the potential of the region," the president noted.

As reported, on March 1, President Petro Poroshenko said that after negotiations with President of Slovakia Andrej Kiska, Uzhhorod Airport would resume its work on March 15 with the flight performed by Motor Sich Airlines once a week on the route Kyiv-Lviv-Uzhhorod.
