Vitali Klitschko, Kyiv Mayor and Chairman of the Association of Ukrainian Cities, took part in the first municipal summit Israeli-Ukrainian Muni 2019 and signed the Memorandum of Cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Israel-Ukraine and the Union of Local Authorities in Israel.

This has been reported by the press service of Kyiv Mayor.

“Urban security issue is most important for both our countries. As we are all aware, urban safety and security depends of many factors: starting from roads quality, street lighting, public transport and ending with cyberspace. In the modern world, the magnitude and number of threats facing cities are constantly increasing. Therefore, local self-government bodies should take any effort and involve all available resources and up-to-date solutions. I hope that this summit will serve as a platform for finding innovative solutions to security issues in our cities and help attract Israeli investors to technology projects in Kyiv, in Ukraine,” said Klitschko.

Also, mayors and delegations from other Ukrainian cities-members of the Association, including Kharkiv, Dnipro, Chernihiv, Zhytomyr, Rivne, Vinnytsia, Mariupol, Obukhiv and Vyshneve also participated in the Summit which was held during the Muni-Expo Technology Exhibition “Global Solutions for Smart Cities and Urban Security.”

Klitschko noted that the Safe City project as part of the Kyiv Smart City System has been launched in Ukraine’s capital four years ago. About 7,000 smart surveillance cameras operate within city surveillance network. This technology helped law enforcement agencies solve over 3,000 crimes in 2018.

Also, Klitschko in Tel Aviv met with CEOs of companies that offer municipal government technological solutions. In particular, he got acquainted “with a universal ‘smart’ platform which is purpose-designed to lodge all residents’ queries which are intended to improve the city services: utility, healthcare, rescue and many more.”
