"The sides discussed a wide range of issues of cooperation in the field of the exploration of outer space for peaceful purposes and the intensification of bilateral dialogue in this area, including as part of the respective Ukrainian-American working group, which was created in May 2016," the statement reads.
According to the embassy, the sides agreed to prepare for the signing of an intergovernmental agreement on cooperation and the use of outer space for peaceful purposes.
"Bridenstine expressed gratitude for Ukraine's support for NASA's space initiatives. He stressed the interest in engaging Ukrainian companies in implementing lunar exploration projects," the embassy said.
The sides noted significant prospects for deepening bilateral cooperation, highlighting positive examples of Ukrainian-American cooperation in the space sector, one of which is the Antares project.
The Antares carrier rocket, created by Orbital ATK Inc. with the participation of foreign partners, including Ukrainian enterprises, was launched from NASA's Wallops Flight Facility in November 2018. The first stage of the rocket was designed by the Yuzhnoye Design Office and manufactured at the Pivdenmash Machine-Building Plant in cooperation with Ukrainian enterprises Hartron-ARKOS, Hartron-UCOM, RAPID, and others.
