Almost half of Donbas residents oppose pardon for militants

This is evidenced by the results of the poll conducted by the Ilko Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation in ccoperation with the Razumkov Centre, which were made public during a press conference at the Ukrinform agency on Wednesday.

45.4% of polled residents of Donbas consider that complete pardon for all the participants in military hostilities against Ukrainian troops to end the war is unacceptable.

In addition, 41% of residents of eastern Ukraine on the whole, 53.9% of residents of southern Ukraine, 68.4% of residents of central Ukraine, and 69.8% residents of western Ukraine consider such an option unacceptable.

At the same time, 27.7% of residents of Donbas, 32.2% of residents of eastern Ukraine on the whole, 28.6% of residents of southern Ukraine, 20.4% of residents of central Ukraine, and 22.8% residents of western Ukraine are undecided on this issue.

However, 62% of residents of Donbas, 48.4% of residents of eastern Ukraine on the whole, 25.3% of residents of southern Ukraine, 21% of residents of central Ukraine, and 13.3% residents of western Ukraine are ready to support the cessation of blockade of lines of communication and restoration of trade with the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions to end the war.

The nationwide poll was conducted on December 19-25, 2018 in all the regions of Ukraine except for Crimea and the occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions. A total of 2,017 adult respondents were interviewed. The theoretical sample error does not exceed 2.3%.
