Wounded Ukrainian sailors transferred to Lefortovo - Russian activist
Ivleva wrote this on her Facebook page.
"Three wounded sailors - Andriy Aider, Andriy Artemenko and Vasyl Soroka – were transferred from Matrosskaya Tishina to Lefortovo yesterday or today. We detected this by accident, trying to register in the electronic queue for parcels. We failed to register because the recipient was not found," Ivleva wrote on Sunday, January 27.
She expressed hope that "the sailors were treated at least somehow."
Lawyer Nikolai Polozov, who coordinates the work of the defense team for Ukrainian sailors, wrote that "lawyers will be able to confirm or refute information about the transfer of the wounded prisoners of war, Ukrainian sailors Andriy Artemenko, Andriy Eider and Vasyl Soroka, from the medical unit of the Matrosskaya Tishina detention center to the Lefortovo detention center tomorrow [on Monday], when the detention centers will start working again for visits by lawyers."
Earlier, Polozov said that the transfer of wounded Ukrainian sailors to Lefortovo caused "great anxiety since the latter has no facilities for providing the necessary medical care."
On January 24, the PACE adopted a resolution entitled "The escalation of tensions around the Sea of Azov and the Kerch Strait and threats to European security," which officially demands that Russia treat Ukrainian military sailors captured in the Kerch Strait in accordance with the Geneva Convention relative to the Treatment of Prisoners of War.
On November 25, 2018, Russian border ships fired on and seized in the Kerch Strait three Ukrainian naval vessels that were moving from Odesa to Mariupol. Twenty-four Ukrainian sailors were captured. They currently stay in jail in Moscow. They all declared themselves prisoners of war.
