Ukraine church leader to be enthroned on Feb 3

The enthronement of Primate of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine Epiphanius will take place on February 3.

Metropolitan of Kyiv and All Ukraine Epiphanius stated this at the presentation of a book of Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, His Beatitude Sviatoslav Shevchuk, on Thursday, January 17, an Ukrinform correspondent said.

"Today I would like to officially announce that the enthronement will take place on February 3," Epiphanius said.

He invited His Beatitude Sviatoslav to the enthronement ceremony and stressed that the Orthodox Church of Ukraine and the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church should continue to develop cooperation and bring it to a higher level.

"We are starting the first steps of our cooperation, although we have also maintained cooperation before. In the future, we will continue our dialogue and cooperation. We are Christians and we must create good together. We want to start fruitful cooperation between the Orthodox Church and the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, which existed before, but we want to deepen it in order to work together in the future," Epiphanius said.

The primate of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine will turn 40 on February 3.
