Poroshenko taking part in prayer service for Ukraine at Zhytomyr cathedral

President Petro Poroshenko is taking part in a prayer service at St. Michael's Cathedral in Zhytomyr on the occasion of receiving the tomos of autocephaly and the creation of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.

The divine service is broadcast on a Facebook page of the head of state.

The prayer service is also attended by Honorable Patriarch of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine Filaret and Metropolitan of Kyiv and All Ukraine Epiphanius.

The Patriarchal and Synodal Tomos of Autocephaly of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church is presented to the public at the cathedral.

As reported, on January 5, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew signed the tomos of autocephaly of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.

On January 6, 2019, the ceremony to hand over a tomos of autocephaly to the united Orthodox Church of Ukraine took place at the Patriarchal Church of St. George in Istanbul. Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew gave the document to Metropolitan of Kyiv and All Ukraine Epiphanius.
