Poroshenko: Ukraine’s independence becomes stronger with autocephalous Orthodox Church
In a post on Twitter, Poroshenko wrote: “Ukraine’s independence now, with the creation of the autocephalous Orthodox Church of Ukraine, has become stronger. Our united church has become the spiritual foundation of the Ukrainian state, and therefore it is so important for me and for every Ukrainian, because it is a process of state creation,” Poroshenko said.
He also added that the creation of the autocephalous Orthodox Church of Ukraine "is not the completion, but only the beginning – we still need unity."
As reported, on January 13, President Petro Poroshenko was on an official visit to Vinnytsia region, where he attended a liturgy dedicated to receiving the Tomos of autocephaly. The service was held in the Holy Transfiguration Cathedral, where the Tomos was brought.
