HQCJ announces results of first stage of competition to Anti-Corruption Court

The High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine (HQCJ) has unveiled the results of the first stage of the competition to the High Anti-Corruption Court and the appeals chamber of this court, the commission's press service has said.

"On December 27, 2018, the commission approved the results of the practical task and the first stage of the qualification evaluation 'Exam' within the competitions for vacant positions," the statement said.

According to the results, 81 candidates continue to participate in the competition to the Anti-Corruption Court, and 27 applicants have stopped participating in the selection process.

As for the competition to the court's appeals chamber, 32 candidates continued to compete for positions, and 16 pulled out of the process.

The HQCJ also published the results of the first stage of the selection to the Cassation Administrative Court as part of the Supreme Court, with 78 candidates who continue to participate in the competition and 26 who pulled out of the selection process.

In general, 39 judges are to be selected for the High Anti-Corruption Court, including 12 of them for the appeals chamber.

The law on the High Anti-Corruption Court and a formal law on the creation of this court came into force in June this year.

According to the documents, the High Anti-Corruption Court should be formed by June 14, 2019. At least 35 anti-corruption judges should be hired to start its work, and at least ten of them should be members of the appeals chamber.
