Ukrainian opera named among 10 winning projects of Music Theater NOW competition
As Ukrinform learnt from the representatives of NOVA OPERA formation, 436 works from 55 world countries took part in the competition. Ukrainian opera-requiem IYOV was praised for unconventional and original approach to existing forms.
"An ensemble of Ukrainian singers and musicians revisit the classical form of oratorio and requiem in the most honest and profoundly musical way. IYOV evolves in the spirit of togetherness and pure belief in the transformative power of human voice. The universal message of the work is well rooted in the cultural genealogy of the artists," said Belgian dramaturge Krystian Lada, the jury member of the 2018 edition of Music Theatre NOW competition.
The premiere of the IYOV took place at the GogolFest festival in Kyiv in 2015. It was created by director Vlad Troitskyi, composers Grygoriv Roman and Razumeiko Illia.
