eBay to remove products with 'DPR/LPR' symbols from sale

Ukraine's Embassy in the United States has received an official response to its request from eBay, which agreed to take the necessary steps to remove from sale the products with the symbols of terrorist organizations "DPR" and "LPR," which are subject to U.S. and EU sanctions.

"Following an appeal from Ukraine's Ambassador to the United States Valeriy Chaly to the management of eBay Inc. with the call to remove products with the symbols of the terrorist organizations 'DPR' and 'LPR' from the website ebay.com, the embassy received an official response that clearly states that the company will be taking the necessary measures to remove the mentioned products from its website," the embassy said in a statement posted on its Facebook page.

Two illegal armed formations in Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine were included in the U.S. and EU sanctions lists, the embassy said. The money received from the sale of the said goods "can be used for their financial support," it added.

At the same time, the Ukrainian side said it was waiting for similar steps from Amazon Inc.

The letter in response to the embassy's request was signed by eBay Vice President Cathy Foster.
