Ukraine to purchase over one million books for public libraries

The relevant decision was taken at the government meeting on Wednesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"This list of books was prepared by experts together with readers… This means that the Ministry of Culture does not rely only on officials. These are experts whom the society trusts," said Minister of Culture Yevhen Nyshchuk.

On October 27, the Expert Council recommended the list of books for procurement to replenish book stocks of public libraries in 2018. The list includes 741 various books in a total circulation of 1,028,800 copies from 92 publishing houses for the sum of UAH 119.996 million.
