Ukraine’s population decreases to 42.2 million people

The current population of Ukraine is 42.2 million people, according to the data provided by the State Statistics Service.

“As of September 1, 2018, the current population of Ukraine was 42.2 million. In January-August 2018, the population decreased by 152.4 thousand people,” reads the report.

According to the State Statistics Service, since the beginning of the year, the number of deaths has significantly exceeded the number of livebirths in Ukraine: 100 deaths per 58 livebirths.

As of September 12, 2017, the number of Ukraine's population amounted to 42,444,919.

The State Statistics Committee noted that the data on the number of Ukraine’s population cover all regions of Ukraine, except for the temporarily occupied territories in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol.
