Ecumenical Patriarchate lifts anathema against leader of Ukrainian Orthodox Church

The Holy and Sacred Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate has lifted the anathema against leader of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Kyiv Patriarchate (UOC-KP), Filaret, and declared the annexation of the Metropolitanate of Kyiv in 1686 illegal.
"Good news from the Synod. We received information about two expected decisions of the Holy and Sacred Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate from several sources. The first is about upholding the appeal of Patriarch Filaret. The second is about non-recognition of the annexation of the Metropolitanate of Kyiv in 1686," UOC-KP Spokesman Yevstratiy Zoria posted on Twitter, referring to informed sources.
Now we will wait for official confirmation, Zoria added.
Earlier, UOC-KP leader Filaret appealed to the Ecumenical Patriarchate, as the highest appellate instance in church disputes, with the request to lift the anathema against him imposed by the Russian Orthodox Church.
