Some 62% of Ukrainian citizens believe that there is no need to introduce sale of land, according to a survey conducted in July 2018.

Director of the Social Monitoring Center Dmytro Dmytruk announced the results of the survey at a press conference on Wednesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"We see that 62% of our population say that there is no need to introduce land trade," he said.

According to the survey, only 9.2% of respondents favor the introduction of trade in small land plots, 5.2% support the introduction of trade in land for agricultural purposes only, and 5.3% back the introduction of trade in land for non-agricultural purposes. At the same time, only 6.8% of respondents support the idea of land trade without any restrictions.

At the same time, Dmytruk said that in the past year there had been gradual improvement in the citizens' assessment of the financial situation of their families, and "the number of people who relate themselves to the conditional middle class is being restored" gradually.

He noted that about 27% of respondents had unofficial income, but recalled that, for example, in 2013 this figure was about 40%.

The public opinion poll was held by the Social Monitoring Center and the Yaremenko Ukrainian Institute for Social Research on July 17-27. The poll covered the whole territory of Ukraine, except for temporarily occupied areas of Luhansk and Donetsk regions and the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. A total of 2,186 respondents were interviewed. The poll's margin of error is 2.13%.
