Representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Ukraine have presented two humanitarian projects in Donetsk region concerning the Bakhmut hospital and a checkpoint, the department for information and internal policy of the Donetsk regional civil-military administration has said.

"Representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Ukraine presented two of their projects regarding the Bakhmut hospital and a checkpoint," reads the statement.

It notes that the first project is aimed at the creation of a unit of emergency medical aid with equity financing from the ICRC. It is to support the construction and create a structure of intensive care and rehabilitation in emergency situations in the Bahmuth hospital, in accordance with the principles set forth in the World Health Organization's emergency response framework. The project is to be implemented by 2020. Some two million Swiss francs are to be allocated for this purpose.

The implementation of the project concerning the checkpoint provides for the creation of favorable conditions for citizens crossing checkpoints, namely the planned creation of a module for heating and cooling, composting toilets, water closets and bus stops.

This issue was discussed at a meeting between Oleksandr Kuts, head of the Donetsk regional civil-military administration, representatives of the delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Ukraine, and head of the ICRC delegation in Ukraine, Alain Aeschlimann.

Kuts emphasized the ICRC's significant contribution to improving the humanitarian situation in the region.
