Journalist Arkady Babchenko alive

He was present at a briefing held by Chief of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) Vasyl Hrytsak, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

According to Hrytsak, it was a special operation.

Moreover, the SBU chief congratulated the journalist on his third birthday.

"Of course, now I should have expressed my deep condolences to Arkady Babchenko's family, but I will not do it. On the contrary, I want to congratulate his family, you all, our whole world that is watching this act, and congratulate Arkady Babchenko on his third birthday," Hrytsak said.

According to him, it was a special operation carried out by the SBU and which helped thwart a "cynical provocation and document the plotting of a shameful crime by the Russian special services."

As Ukrinform reported, Babchenko, who has recently lived in Ukraine, was allegedly killed at the threshold of his apartment in Kyiv late on May 29. He was allegedly shot three times in the back.

Criminal proceedings were opened over the "killing" of the journalist.
