The football fans from the European Union countries will not be able to enter the territory of Ukraine if they do not have passports. A national identity card cannot be used as a travel document to enter Ukraine.

Serhiy Khyzhniak, the manager for transport and mobility for the final matches of the UEFA men's and women's Champions League season 2017/2018, said this at a briefing in Kyiv on Monday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"Despite the fact that the citizens of the EU member states enter Ukraine without visas, they need to have a passport with them. They have got used to travelling within the Schengen area and the EU with the ID cards, but this document cannot be used to enter the territory of Ukraine. Therefore, those fans, who will come with the ID cards, unfortunately, will not be able to go to the football match," Khyzhniak said.
