Kyiv breaks all temperature records on May 2

New temperature records were set in the city of Kyiv on May 2, according to the Central Geophysical Observatory named after Borys Sreznevskyi.

“On May 2, the capital broke all temperature records for the first time since December 29, 2017,” reads the report.

According to the geophysical observatory, there was not only the warmest night in Kyiv on May 2, but the maximum air temperature for this date was recorded - the temperature rose to + 30.0 °C in the afternoon, which means that the highest temperature for this date of 1934 was repeated.

"In this regard, the average daily temperature also exceeded the previous historical temperature value of the same year 1934 by 0.1 °C. It was + 22.8 ° C, which is 10.6 °C above the climatic norm for this date," the meteorologists said.
