President of Ukrainian World Congress meets with Ukrainian community in Azerbaijan

President of the Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) Eugene Czolij has met with members of Ukrainian community during a working visit to Baku on April 22-23.

"Head of Ukraine’s diplomatic mission Oleksandr Mishchenko and UWC President Eugene Czolij met with the activists of Ukrainian organizations in Azerbaijan at the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Azerbaijan,” the Embassy’s press service reports.

During the meeting, Czolij thanked the Ukrainians for their active support for the territorial integrity of Ukraine and called on them to continue making an important contribution to the efforts of Ukrainians abroad to support Ukraine in counteracting the aggression of the Russian Federation.

A number of issues relevant for the Ukrainian community were also discussed, in particular, regarding the UWC’s assistance to meet the cultural, educational and other needs of Ukrainians in Azerbaijan.

In addition, the president of the Ukrainian World Congress and the representatives of the Ukrainian community and local authorities laid flowers at the monument to Taras Shevchenko in Baku.

In addition, Eugene Czolij held a series of meetings with representatives of the Azerbaijani authorities, emphasizing the importance of cooperation between Ukraine and the Republic of Azerbaijan to ensure the restoration of the territorial integrity of both states.
