Ivanna Kobernyk, an adviser to the Education Minister of Ukraine, stated this on Hromadske Radio.
"The government has allocated UAH 1.385 billion for school maintenance. The relevant resolution on the distribution of these funds was approved last week. This is a very large sum. Such a large sum of funds has never been allocated from the state budget for the re-equipment of schools. This is the first time that the reform is launched with such a significant support from the state," Kobernyk said.
According to her, the funds will be distributed in a following way: 40% will be directed to the purchase of didactic materials for primary school, another 40% - for the purchase of modern furniture, and the remaining 20% - for the purchase of computer equipment for primary school.
Kobernyk noted that the funds will be distributed among all regions of Ukraine, depending on the number of pupils living in the area. Purchases will be carried out by local government.
