Poroshenko signs legislation on support for Paralympic movement in Ukraine

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has signed the amendments to the law on support for the Olympic, Paralympic movement and sports of highest achievements in Ukraine and the decree on creation of conditions for further development of Paralympic and Deaflympic movement in Ukraine.

The signing ceremony took place during a meeting with the Ukrainian Paralympic team on Friday, March 30, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"The law stipulates absolutely clear instructions to the Cabinet of Ministers, local administrations, bodies of local self-government. The law demonstrates the priorities of the Ukrainian government, and you are the top-priority," Poroshenko said.

The President added that the decree on creation of conditions for further development of Paralympic and Deaflympic movement in Ukraine provided for establishment of 100 scholarships for children with special needs for high achievements in all-Ukrainian sports competitions.

The Ukrainian team occupied the fourth position in the overall team ranking at the 2018 Winter Paralympics. Ukrainian athletes won 22 medals: 7 gold, 7 silver and 8 bronze medals.
