Canadian Ambassador to Ukraine Roman Waschuk has condemned the actions of former Head of Odesa Regional State Administration Mikheil Saakashvili and his supporters who stormed the International Center of Culture and Arts (Zhovtnevy Palace) in Kyiv.

"Attempts to seize and damage public buildings are an abuse of the right to peaceful protest," the diplomat wrote on his Twitter page.

British Ambassador to Ukraine Judith Gough also supported his colleague.

"I completely agree with my Canadian colleague. Attempts to seize and damage public buildings are an abuse of the right to peaceful protest," she wrote.

As reported, the police instituted criminal proceedings over the storming of the International Center of Culture and Arts.

Earlier, Saakashvili announced plans to create a headquarters in the premises of the Zhovtnevy Palace. A New Year's show for children was held in the palace during the attempt to storm the building.
