Klimkin: Russia does not need Donbas

Ukrinform
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin has said he does not rule out that Russia, in order to destabilize the situation in Ukraine, can resort to large-scale armed provocations.

He stated live on the 112 Ukraine television channel on November 30, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"Of course, armed provocations [on the part of Russia] are possible. They are possible and large-scale. We are ready for this, and our partners were also warned about it. Of course, we will repel this, because foreign policy is inseparable from what we do in the security sphere," Klimkin said.

According to him, one of the problems in implementing the Minsk agreements and a peace plan is that Russia "does not need Donbas by definition."

"Russia needs destabilization of Ukraine and the Ukrainian project, because our way forward, our success will be reflected like in the mirror in what is happening in Russia - the strengthening of authoritarianism and Stalinism," the minister said.
