Ukraine's Embassy in Belarus taking measures to provide Sharoiko with support

The Ukrainian Embassy in Belarus is taking all measures to find out the reasons for the detention of Pavlo Sharoiko, a UA: Ukrainian Radio correspondent in Belarus, a former UNIAN reporter in Minsk, a citizen of Ukraine.

The embassy stated this in response to UNIAN's inquiry.

"Ukraine's Embassy in the Republic of Belarus, in the situation with the detention of a Ukrainian journalist who is officially accredited in Belarus, is taking all measures to find out the reasons for the detention and provide Pavlo Sharoiko with the necessary support," diplomats said.

It was reported on November 17 that Ukrainian journalist Sharoiko was arrested in Minsk on October 25.

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry stated that it was taking measures to protect the journalist.

Head of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine Serhiy Tomilenko wrote on Facebook that Sharoiko was detained on October 25 by employees of the State Security Committee of Belarus.
