Chiygoz, Umerov soon to arrive in Kyiv - Dzhaparova
Ukrainian First Deputy Information Policy Minister Emine Dzhaparova wrote this on her Facebook page.
"Akhtem Chiygoz and Ilmi Umerov will soon arrive in Kyiv. They are currently on board an airplane en route to Ankara. Their transfer to Turkey is the result of negotiations between Turkish President [Recep Tayyip] Erdogan and [Russian President Vladimir] Putin," she said.
As reported, Chiygoz and Umerov, who were convicted in the occupied Crimea, were earlier transferred to Turkey.
On September 27, a Kremlin-controlled court in Crimea sentenced deputy chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Ilmi Umerov to two years in a penal colony, banning him to engage in public activity for two years. The criminal case against Umerov was instituted in 2016 under Article 280.1 of the Criminal Code of Russia (public appeals for separatism).
On September 11, a court in Russian-occupied Crimea brought in the guilty verdict against deputy head of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Akhtem Chiygoz for organizing mass riots on February 26, 2014. Chiygoz was sentenced to eight years in a strict-regime colony.
