Ukrainian Parliament speaker signs law on education

Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andriy Parubiy has signed the Law of Ukraine "On Education", adopted by the Parliament on September 5.

Parubiy said this at a briefing on Tuesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"I'm signing the Law of Ukraine ‘On Education’ at the moment," Parubiy said, putting his signature under the law’s wording.

The Speaker added that the law would be submitted for signature to the President of Ukraine on Tuesday.

On September 5, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine passed the Law of Ukraine "On Education". The law introduces a 12-year school system and stipulates that the national language shall be the language of the educational process at schools and colleges.
