Avakov proposes two options for Saakashvili

Ukrinform
Ukrainian Interior Minister Arsen Avakov, while commenting on the breakthrough of the state border at the Shehyni checkpoint and the opening of a criminal case on illegal movement across the border, has proposed two options for former Odesa Regional Governor Mikheil Saakashvili.

"Saakashvili and all those who illegally crossed the border must immediately choose from two options: to arrive at the Shehyni checkpoint and go through the registration process and/or arrive at a Migration Service unit," he wrote on Facebook on Monday.

He noted that he was "trying to do everything to bring border guards and police officers out of the political process" and banned them from using weapons and force against members of mass protests near the border.

"The Shehyni border crossing was taken by storm... and joyous people's deputies - having formed a crowd around them - illegally let about 40 people, including Saakashvili and several foreigners, in the country. Medical assistance had to be given to 16 border guards and police officers due to the incident," Avakov added.

As Ukrinform reported, the National Police earlier opened a criminal case under Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (the illegal movement of persons across the state border) due to organizing the breakthrough of the state border.
