Ruins of ancient Panticapaeum in Crimean town of Kerch on fire

Ukrinform
The fire has destroyed a significant part of vegetation of the Panticapaeum archaeological complex located on the Mount Mithridat in the center of Kerch town in the east of annexed Crimea.

As Crimea.Realities portal reports, the scorched land is limited to the territory of the reserve behind the fence: the fire spread to the excavation site on the territory of the ancient settlement and next to the ruins of the acropolis which are the most popular showplace in Kerch.

The management of the Kerch Historical and Cultural Reserve withholds comments.

Panticapaeum was an ancient Greek city, founded in early 6th century BC.
