Information Policy Ministry to make list of websites that undermine sovereignty of Ukraine

Ukrinform
Information Policy Minister Yuri Stets has instructed his deputy Dmytro Zolotukhin to make a list of websites that undermine the sovereignty of Ukraine.

This has been discussed at a press conference of the leadership of the Information Policy Ministry of Ukraine on Thursday.

"In the next two weeks I want that he [Zolotukhin] brings to the Expert Council under the Information Policy Ministry, which includes media experts and public figures, a list of websites that must be closed, such as "Russkaya vesna" ("Russian Spring"), "Novorossiya" ("New Russia") or others, that undermines the sovereignty of Ukraine," the minister said. According to him, this list of websites should be examined by the Security Service of Ukraine and the Expert Council at the Ministry.

The minister noted that the Information Policy Ministry should collect necessary information about abovementioned websites and take to the court for adoption of decision, because the law stipulates that the Information Policy Ministry has to respond to such violations, but a mechanism has not been established. Minister Stets expects that a clear mechanism to respond will be determined in the legislation soon.

As known, on February 25 President Poroshenko approved the Doctrine of Information Security of Ukraine. Foreign partners, Ukrainian journalists, experts, media lawyers and representatives of public organizations were attracted to develop this doctrine.
