Secretary of Ukrainian Defence Council: People will respect police when they feel reliable protection

Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov has handed over a flag to the National Police of Ukraine.
The solemn ceremony took place at the St. Sophia Square in Kyiv on the National Police Day of Ukraine, August 4, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
"I would like to emphasize that the reforms taking place in the law enforcement system should not diminish your willingness to protect our citizens," he said.
Turchynov noted that he believed that the law enforcement officers would decently fulfill all the tasks set before them.
"It is very important that Ukrainian people stop being afraid of their main law enforcement body. They should respect you, but this will be possible only when they feel the reliable protection of their lives, their property, their rights and their future," Turchynov said.
