Ukrainian Justice Minister: Number of political parties in Ukraine doubles for past two years

This was stated by Justice Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Petrenko in an interview with Censor.net media outlet.

According to him, the Justice Ministry has considerably simplified and liberalized the process of registration of public associations, including political parties: "The problem of the registration of parties has become history. This is indicated by the numbers. Whereas only about 140 political parties have been registered in Ukraine since gaining the independence, the number of parties has doubled over the past two years. Now there are about 300 registered parties, and they work."

Petrenko added that the issue of registration of the parties was now carefully monitored by the Justice Ministry in cooperation with Ukrainian security services.
