Police patrol groups will start to operate throughout Ukraine by the year-end to respond rapidly to reports on offences.

Ukrainina President Petro Poroshenko said this speaking at celebrations to mark the 95th anniversary of establishment of the National Academy of Internal Affairs, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"Considerable attention in law-enforcement issues is being focused now on small towns and villages, apart from big cities. To this end, police patrol groups are being launched for rapid response to all reports on offences and other incidents. Such groups are currently working in Kyiv, Lviv, Kharkiv and Khmelnytsky Regions. However, they are expected to start working throughout the whole of Ukraine by the end of the year," Poroshenko said.

He stressed that Ukraine used the experience of advanced countries around the world in establishing all units of the National Police and implemented nearly all law-enforcement projects with the support of foreign partners, including the US, the EU, Canada, Japan, Australia and others.
